Distorted jazz music? Not my style but i like your playing.

Dimoria responds:

Thanks man. Just felt like improvising a bit :)

that was cool. Advice 4 u-don't program crash hits without bass drum hits. it sounds wonky. Drummer for 15 years. Peace.

DaveValentine responds:

OK, thanks dude! :)

It's ominous but I can't classify this as jazz. It doesn't swing. Cool house stuff though.

SamHandwiches responds:

Oh thanks. The bass and harmonica were both completely improvised, so it's technically jazz, even though I put a bunch of Windows 98 synth on it afterwards.

Some errors in the playing as stated, but i like the idea. Not bad playing at all. Do another one!

IninnodV2 responds:

Thanks! I'm working on another out of e minor.

Clean. Resemblance of cool jazz elements are here.

i say that because it doesn't quite go anywhere too far besides playing and having fun on a distorted (neck pickup?) pentatonic scale. The beginning is classic bending riffs-good use there. Little hint- for every minor key there is a relative major key and vice versa. This is E minor, yes? so relative major (aka something you could solo in for spurts that would add a metric ton of depth) would be G major. From minors, it's the 3rd scale degree that's relative major. For majors, it's the sixth scale degree that's minor: EG Cmajor's relative minor is Aminor. Aminor's relative major is Cmajor. Ramble ramble ramble...good work. keep it up. learn your scales. it's worth it.

Meflanim responds:

Wow, thanks. You're right, I don't really know much about scales since I haven't taken any real classes or anything and I was actually thinking about getting in one, but now I see it IS worth it. Thanks for the "little hint" ...No srcasm

Rhythm is there. Was waiting for leads.

Dude, your rhythm playing is good. You've got beat. Your leads need to be more than mere introjections in the rhythm part. Lets hear some melody! Make up a melody part that follows the rhythm guitar. Sing it, then learn it, then play it. Works every time.

By the way-take the delay off of the lead part. You're better than that. Confidence, good sir. Peace.

robertemerald responds:

Thankyou DragonX016, I'll take that on board, though I think you flatter my talents more than I deserve!

DIG. Nice work.

Respect on the piano work-but I must say as a harsh critic i would like to hear some more rocking chops-that is some nutty runs, builds, and come downs. and what not. I can tell you have years of experience playing. Don't ever stop. Hit me up if you're interested in doing some compositions to drums and bass-like brushes and jazz bass.

MrMusicalLion responds:

Yeah, totally agreed here really, this is one of my weaker Jazz pieces in all fairness. I'd have given it a 6, so thankyou for the 8 :) Check out 'Risky' in my Audio, that's a better example of my Jazz stuff.

Sounds like an interesting proposition, I'll contact you about that in the near-distant future :)

[Thanks for the Review, :D ]

I dig this. WHat instruments are you using?

Can I make a suggestion? Little less distortion, little more reverb. Even though forests don't echo, perhaps a bit of reverb would set the mood a bit more what you're going for. this seems a little bit more...outer-space like to me. But it's still good. Keep going-don't stop writing. Peace.

auroalee1 responds:

Thanks so much for the support! And, yes... For some reason when I bounced the audio file, the distortion showed up. :( I will have to go back and fix that.

its like a sleep aid.

atonal, arhythmic, trippy. I dig. Check mine out too-I submitted mine right before you.

oddfellowfloyd responds:

Thanks, mate! :) Glad you liked it! Which track is yours? I've only checked out your 2010 submissions... Pretty nice instrumentation and tunes!

A Pent Flute! And I thought I was the only one.

This is really good sounding man. The Bodhran is well played, as is the uke. My only beef is that the flute has more delay than I would like, but that's my taste. You should do more of these, and really showcase the flute. I've been playing for maybe 2 years, and I'm just now starting to get into grace notes and such. Check out Travis Terry. He's one of the best flute players I've ever listened to. Might give you some ideas.

MikeTaylor responds:

Thanks for the advice, I only just dabbled with the flute I bought on a whim, I absolutely love the sound but haven't quite dedicated enough time to learning the ins and outs of it. I plan on recording some songs for a podcast series that will showcase more flute, and I'll play with the delay a little more. Thanks for the review!
